Following the May 25 death of George Floyd while in police custody, the United States and even other countries have been beset by waves of unrest, protest and overall tension.
The Show spoke with Greg Moore, a columnist for the Arizona Republic.
→ Arizona Voices: Race, Diversity And The Black Lives Matter Movement
Moore is African American and he usually covers sports and — at least once a week — race and culture. After the events following Floyd's death, he felt moved to write something closer to the heart. Moore says he’s an advocate for peaceful protesting and, even though he knows he says that from a place of privilege, that he wants everyone to be safe.
The Show asked him to record a commentary reflecting on the death of George Floyd and the unrest the world has seen since.
