Firefighters remain busy in the Arizona heat. The Sawtooth Fire near the Superstition Mountains has burned 21,000 acres.

State Forestry spokeswoman Tiffany Davila said that the desert remains vulnerable as temperatures stay in triple digits.

“Conditions continue to heat up, vegetation is very dry, fire danger is extremely high,” she said.

Davila said that firefighters got a jump on the Oak Flat Fire northeast of Superior. That fire forced a highway closure.
