The family of Dion Johnson, the man shot and killed by a Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper after being found asleep in his truck along the Loop 101 freeway in north Phoenix, is asking for answers, and a state representative is asking for a federal investigation.
Dion Johnson's death came on the same day as a Minneapolis police officer knelt on George Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes, killing Floyd. Johnson's name is displayed as prominently as Floyd's in the demonstrations held in Arizona.

"I don't know what kind of world we're living in anymore," Johnson's mother said. "I just want answers. I want to know what happened."
The Phoenix Police Department is conducting the investigation, and so far has been tight-lipped about what information it releases to Johnson's family and the public.
"We're frustrated as an organization, we're frustrated as a people, and we're frustrated for the family, with no answers," activist Michael Lambert said.

State Rep. Reginald Bolding wonders whether or not the Phoenix Police department will consider the facts objectively.
“Will we have an investigation that is truly unbiased and is truly thorough?" he asked. "What we’ve seen on that video would show Mr. Johnson shot, laying on the ground, obviously in pain, handcuffed, and two troopers stood over him while the scene was secured.”
