The Navajo Nation has been one of the hardest hit places in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. But even as it's seen its case numbers and death toll continue to rise, the Navajo Nation has tested more than 41,000 people — 20% of the people on the nation, a much higher percentage than many states, including Arizona.
It also seems as if the nation’s largest Native American reservation is flattening the curve. On June 10, they received good news: Only 40 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, which is the lowest number of new cases since they began reporting back in March.
The Show spoke with Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez to hear his take on this news and the challenges that people have faced over the past several months.
