The Bighorn Fire in the Catalina Mountains near Tucson continues to grow — 11,500 acres and 11% contained as of Sunday morning.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson James Allerton says large swaths of homes near Casas Adobes are under pre-evacuation orders.
“We evacuated a portion of a community that is called Catalina, it is on the north side of, the north and west side of the Catalina Foothills," Allerton said.
The Magnum Fire, burning along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, has burned close to 20,000 acres and is 2% contained.
Coconino County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jon Paxton says they've had to evacuate campers and visitors along the North Rim.
“At this time we’ve evacuated around 230 people — this includes people from the campgrounds, Jacob Lake lodge, and surrounding campgrounds and dispersed camping,” he said.
