On June 16, Arizona saw the biggest daily increase in COVID-19 cases in the state so far. With more than 2,000 new reports, the state continues to be a new epicenter for the virus.
The trend is alarming many both inside and outside the medical community. Health experts across the country are warning that the number of cases and deaths will continue to rise as states ease quarantine restrictions.
On June 17, the state added another 1,827 cases — making the total number of cases in Arizona nearly 41,000.
Bonnie LaFleur has been tracking COVID-19 numbers in Arizona. She’s a research professor of biostatistics at the University of Arizona BIO5 Institute.
