The pandemic is continuing to impact the state’s revenue. Arizona reports total transaction privilege taxes were down 10% in April compared to the previous year. That’s a continued decline from March.
Hotel taxes in Arizona saw the biggest declines. The state collected only about $4 million from hotels in April, compared to about $20 million during the same period last year.
Taxes on amusements, which include concerts or sporting events, fell 72% in April. Restaurant and Bar taxes were down 41%.
Even with major declines in spring, the state’s transaction privilege tax revenues for the fiscal year as a whole are still up about 5% over last year.
