Pima County Board Of Supervisors To Discuss Possible COVID-19 Safety Measures

The Pima County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on Friday to discuss ways to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Gov. Doug Ducey has given local jurisdictions more flexibility to mandate face coverings in public and enact other measures. A subcommittee of county, university and private sector health officials and physicians is meeting earlier Friday and to make recommendations.

If the board approves mandated face coverings in public, the rule would affect all areas of the county except for tribal nations. Masks are already mandated at county facilities.

According to a statement by the county: "The meeting is open to the public but seating is limited due to physical distancing requirements. Everyone attending the meeting will be required to submit to a wellness check and must to wear a mask. The meeting will be streamed live on the county’s website and on the county’s Facebook, and will be cablecast on Cox and Comcast Channel 96."
