This past weekend, videos of people enjoying the nightlife in Old Town Scottsdale also showed many disregarding health safety protocols.

Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane says the city is looking into possible measures to address this issue. However, Lane says he’s not looking to shut down the clubs.

“What we have utilized is some write ups to the department of liquor license control. And of course it would go to the board for their consideration as far as for summonses or citations they might present,” Lane said.

Lane says he is concerned, as a new weekend approaches, on how to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, but he says individuals have a personal responsibility to voluntarily protect themselves.

Gov. Doug Ducey announced Wednesday he would allow mayors to make the ultimate decision on whether or not to enact a local mandate of face coverings in public.
