Gov. Doug Ducey visited the Bighorn Fire near Tucson to get a briefing on Arizona wildfires continuing to burn throughout the state.
Firefighters faced dry, windy conditions as they battled the Bighorn Fire, which is at about 60,000 acres.
Rugged terrain, dry fuel and hot, windy weather have frustrated their efforts to control the blaze.
The fire has forced trail closures and evacuations.
Meanwhile, the Bush Fire, northeast of Phoenix, has burned more than 184,000 acres and is the fifth-largest fire in Arizona history.
Crews have laid down firelines off highways and say the blaze is 46% contained.
In northern Arizona, the Mangum Fire is pushing toward House Rock Valley. It has closed off access to the Grand Canyon’s North Rim.
