COVID-19 Creates Lingering Health Problems

While most people recover from COVID-19, doctors are warning of lingering health problems caused by the disease.

Dr. Shad Marvasti with the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix said health professionals are still learning about the long-term impact of the coronavirus.

“We still don’t know enough to know what the long-term implications are, but it’s definitely not something where you catch a cold or the flu and then you fully recover and you’re done,” he said. “We’ve seen people with neurological deficits and cognitive deficits even months after being infected and recovered.”

Marvasti also said other long-term impacts include lung scarring and kidney problems.
