The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to close out its current term July 2 with the release of its pending rulings. We’ve already seen a number of 5-4 decisions — some with surprises when it comes to who the fifth justice was.
In two particular cases — one involving DACA recipients and the other a Louisiana abortion policy — it was staunch Republican and Chief Justice John Roberts joining the court’s liberal wing.
That led to strong criticism from conservatives and President Donald Trump.
The Show spoke to Vincent Bonventre, a professor at Albany Law School, about Roberts' impact.
