Airbnb is implementing new restrictions on Thursday in Phoenix and throughout the country.
The company is barring guests under the age of 25, without at least three positive reviews, from booking homes close to where they live. This new policy is part of Airbnb’s steps to combat unauthorized house parties, according to spokesperson Ben Breit.
“You know we’re all living in this new normal where we have to respect social distancing mandates," said Breit. "And we want to be crystal clear that unauthorized parties are just not going to be tolerated.”
The same restrictions were piloted in Canada in February before the coronavirus outbreak in North America. Breit said the company wanted to implement them in the U.S. going into the Fourth of July weekend.
