Lake Havasu Braces For Heavy Crowds Over Holiday Weekend

Lake Havasu is bracing for heavy crowds over the Fourth of July weekend.

Mohave County has already seen an increase in attendance on Lake Havasu due to COVID-19.  Mohave County sheriff's Sgt. Kyler Cox said additional staff will be on duty this weekend in anticipation of the crowd.

“We bring deputies from all over Mohave County and staff the water pretty much all the way from Parker Dam up to the Davis Dam," said Cox.  "And again, we’re going to have quite a bit of extra staffing just because of this year’s volume of traffic we’re going to have.”

Cox said the lake was already substantially busy on Thursday, which is out of the normal compared to previous years.

They are also expecting high numbers of people because of canceled fireworks shows in surrounding areas. Lake Havasu is still planning on having its fireworks display over the weekend.
