After some modest relief from the heat, metro Phoenix will be back to high temperatures around 110 degrees this holiday weekend.
Some parts of the state got their first rain of the monsoon season Thursday, and more precipitation might be seen across the state this weekend — but probably not as far north as the Phoenix area.
John Glueck is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Tucson. He says the conditions are almost right for rain in the Valley — the moisture just needs a little push.
“The best moisture’s been south of Tucson, but we’re not overly wet yet," Glueck said. "It’ll happen gradually, we just have to get into a nice monsoonal flow, and we’re not into that yet.”
It’ll be nice in the high country all weekend long, with high temperatures in the mid eighties and mostly clear skies.
