Diamondbacks, Major League Baseball Face Issues with COVID-19 Testing

As the Major League Baseball season draws closer, problems with coronavirus testing are affecting training camps.

Baseball’s new COVID-19 policy requires players and coaches to be tested every other day. Some teams have shut down training camps due to a delay in test results from the league’s lab in Utah.

Other teams were forced to shut down camps due to testing not being conducted at all.

Several players have already opted out of the 2020 season, and more may follow suit if problems with testing persist.

The Arizona Diamondbacks had three players test positive last week, including pitchers Junior Guerra and Silvino Bracho.

Diamondbacks Manager Torey Lovullo says both Guerra and Bracho are asymptomatic.
