The U.S. Consulate in Hermosillo posted a farewell video to social media Monday from its now-former Consul General Elia Tello.
Tello served for three years at the Hermosillo Consulate, which is responsible for the southern two thirds of Sonora and the state of Sinaloa.
Tello’s departure comes shortly after the consul in Nogales, Sonora, Virginia Staab, finished her term last month as well. U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Christopher Landau said in a tweetannouncing her Staab's departure in June that six of the United States’s nine consuls in Mexico will be leaving in the coming months.
New consuls have not been publicly announced for either post in Sonora.
