The Maricopa County Community College District held its second of two public forums Thursday night to address questions from the community about suspending sports during COVID-19.
Panelists hoped to hear from the community about the upcoming fall and spring semester sports programs, but no decisions have been made.
Some community members expressed frustration about the uncertainty.
District Athletic Coordinator Christina Hundley says sports like golf cater to social distancing but there are other factors.
“We do still have to take into consideration the issues of training room space, weight room space and servicing our student athletes when they are on campus. So it’s not just the game itself," Hundley said.
Interim Chancellor Steven Gonzales says his goal is to decide after next week’s district governing board work session.
