Arizona State University President Michael Crow announced the university’s plans to spend close to $32 million in federal funding through the CARES act. ASU says most of the money will go to help students stay enrolled on their path to graduation.

In a letter to students and staff, Crow outlined where the money would go. A little more than $14 million would go to provide financial aid to students who may not otherwise qualify for aid. Close to $9 million would be awarded to about 4,500 students from low-income families attending ASU on the Arizona College Attainment Grant program.

The rest of the money, totaling about $8.5 million, will go to students with demonstrated financial needs in order to continue with their studies.

The university says that in most cases, applications aren’t necessary, and eligible students will see the money credited to their student accounts.
