NAU Researchers Study The Relationship Between Traffic Data And COVID-19 Cases

Since stay-at-home orders have been lifted across the country, people have been out and about more — going to stores, restaurants and other kinds of places. That’s been evident in anecdotal accounts, but also in traffic data.

And it’s that kind of information Kevin Gurney has been studying.

Gurney is a professor and research scientist in the School of Informatics, Computing and Cybersystems at Northern Arizona University.

He and his colleagues have been looking into the relationship between daily traffic data and the number of COVID-19 cases in a particular place. The Show spoke with him about what exactly he was hoping to find.
