Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez Asks Residents To Remain Vigilant

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez has asked residents to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19.

In a town hall broadcast, he warned those who were going off reservation to attend sporting events that it’s not worth the risk of being hospitalized.

“Don’t put your elderly’s health at risk, your family member’s health at risk, just for an afternoon of sports," Nez said.

Nez says that he understands how inconvenient some of the restrictions are but he is concerned because cases have not gone down; he says they are even seeing some spikes. A 57-hour weekend lock-down begins tonight (Friday) at 8 P.M. and will last until Monday at 5 A.M.

For more information on COVID-19 and the Navajo Nation, go to the Navajo Department of Health website.
