Officials in Pima County are concerned about the possibility of flooding and debris flows in the aftermath of the Bighorn Fire. As the Tucson area sees more monsoon activity, some flash floods have already happened.
Forest Service spokesperson Corilis Camacho says the burn area is now closed to the public.
“There was some debris flow in the Canada Del Oro Wash, so we continue to urge the public to adhere to the closure order," she said. "Our main concern is the health and safety of the community and people in the area, because flash floods can happen suddenly.”
Flood control officials say it could take several major storms before most of the debris is washed away.
