Google is responding to a lawsuit Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich filed against the internet giant in May.
Brnovich claims Google is defrauding Arizona consumers by collecting private information, storing it and sharing it with others. He says the documents he found during his investigation of how Google uses private information should be made public.
But an attorney representing Google says there’s no basis for the complaint because what the company is accused of doing doesn’t violate the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act, the law Brnovich cited in his claim.
Google’s lawyer went on to say the company wasn’t selling anything to Arizona consumers and that users knew Google applications were tracking them and agreed to it.
A status conference on the case is scheduled for Aug. 4.
