Maricopa County Offers COVID-19 Grants To Small Businesses, Nonprofits

Maricopa County is offering grants to small businesses and nonprofits hurting financially due to COVID-19, but there are several eligibility restrictions

The goal is to help small businesses and nonprofits that haven’t received other government coronavirus funding. Maricopa County is using $22.5 million in federal funds to provide grants up to $10,000 each to qualifying small businesses and nonprofits.

Businesses and groups based in Phoenix and Mesa are not eligible because those cities set up  their own programs. The county also restricts adult-oriented businesses or companies involved in medical or recreational marijuana from participating.

Applications are open through July for companies that generated no more than $3 million in gross revenues during the 2019 calendar year. Awards will be based on an applicant’s actual financial loss in March and April compared to March and April last year.
