Task Force Will Develop Recommendations To Reopen Arizona Nursing Homes

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced the creation of a task force that will develop recommendations on how to resume visits at long-term care facilities.

Many nursing homes and assisted living facilities have restricted visits due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a press release from the Governor’s Office on Tuesday, the task force will make recommendations about how and when in-person visits can resume.

The task force is made up of legislators, aging services providers, state leaders and family members.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid has already outlined its recommendations when it comes to reopening nursing homes. They include no new COVID-19 cases for 28 days; and a nursing home can’t be experiencing staffing shortages and must ensure adequate personal protective equipment and testing.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid does not oversee the roughly 2,500 assisted living facilities in Arizona.
