The National Weather Service has issued excessive heat warnings in Maricopa County and surrounding areas.
Temperatures are expected in the triple digits, potentially as high as 115 through the weekend, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jaret Rogers.
“It’s certainly a dangerous heat episode for late July," said Rogers. "Usually, we see these types of temperatures in late June, but since it’s so dry out there it’s really allowing the temperature to heat up.”
Rogers added that Arizona’s record temperatures for this time of year are about what’s predicted for the next three days.
