The Arizona Department of Health Services recorded another 1,008 new cases of COVID-19 Aug. 4, bringing the total number of cases in Arizona to more than 180,000. The department also reported an additional 66 deaths, meaning that 3,845 Arizonans have now died from COVID-related illness.
These numbers are considerably lower than we were seeing when Arizona was considered among the hottest spots for COVID-19, but there are still some alarming statistics — including the number of deaths from the virus.
The Show spoke with Marcy Flanagan, the director of Maricopa County’s Public Health Department, for an assessment of the numbers and the trends.
