Phoenix has already broken several heat records this summer, and it’s only the beginning of August.
July was the hottest month ever recorded in Phoenix. The average temperature was 98.9 degrees, and the average high was nearly 110. Low temperatures stayed above 90 degrees 16 times in July.
On top of that, so far it's looking at one of the driest monsoon seasons on record.
The Show spoke with Randy Cerveny, a professor of geographical sciences at Arizona State University, about how unusual all this extreme heat really is.
