Arizona Department Of Housing Opens Aid To Landlords

Residential landlords in need of assistance due to the coronavirus pandemic can now apply for aid through the Arizona Department of Housing.

The  Census Bureau reports a quarter of Arizonans either missed their last rent or mortgage payment or aren’t confident they’ll make their next payment. Property owners who depend on rent say they’re struggling.

In mid-July the governor  announced he’d extend the state’s eviction moratorium through October. At the same time, he announced $5 million for a  Rental Property Owner Preservation Fund. Applications for that program opened this week.

Applicants can receive up to $2,000 per unit, up to $50,000 total. Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis until funding runs out.
