The international mariachi conference in southern New Mexico is the latest event to be canceled in person. Organizers say the popular conference which draws performers from the U.S. and Mexico will move online.
That follows a similar plan by the organizers behind Tucson’s All Souls Procession.
Nadia Hagen is a board member with the organization that puts on the procession.
"We just felt like it would be irresponsible of us to encourage hundreds of thousands of people to assemble," she said.
She said people will still be able to contribute prayers and recuerdos to their loved ones to be burned in ceremony.
