The mayor of Gilbert abruptly resigned from office Tuesday evening at the end of the Town Council meeting.

Jenn Daniels said she had enjoyed serving the town and thanked her family and supporters.

Daniels said in February she would not be seeking re-election.

Now the town will appoint a new mayor to serve the remainder of Daniels’ term, which ends in January of next year.
