Arizona’s superintendent of public instruction Kathy Hoffman formally endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, arguing their administration would better serve Arizona public schools.
Speaking at a roundtable session about safely opening public schools amid the coronavirus pandemic, Hoffman said the current administration’s rush to open schools is needlessly endangering the community.
"It’s my position that school districts should be adhering to these public health metrics that have been vetted by medical experts and epidemiologists," Hoffman said. "(It's) so important to be following the science to be making data-informed, research-based decisions as a matter of safety for our teachers, staff, and students."
Hoffman praised the state Department of Health Services for developing public health metrics that school districts can use when deciding whether to hold in-person classes.
