Preservationists Optimistic About Future Of Frank Lloyd Wright-Designed House In Phoenix After Sale

The David and Gladys Wright House in Phoenix’s Arcadia neighborhood has finally found a buyer.

The new owners say they plan to restore and live in the home designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1952 for his son and daughter-in-law. The listing agent for the house said the buyers, who include architects who served as architectural apprentices at Taliesin West, also plan to build up to three additional houses on the property.

The house has been in danger of being torn down over the past several years but now appears safe from demolition.

The Show spoke with Alison King, the founder of ModernPhoenix.net and an assistant professor of design at Grand Canyon University, for more about the significance of this sale for the preservation world.
