U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is officially implementing a new set of rules around the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program.
The changes were first outlined in July, including the rejection of new DACA applications despite a court order that the program go on.
The administration will also require recipients to renew their status every year rather than every two years, and permission to travel internationally will be limited. Critics say the administration is violating court orders, but others argue it is using a legal loophole that allows such changes.
In any case, the changes will have a direct impact on the program — and the roughly 700,000 young people who are enrolled.
