As Arizona’s COVID-19 outbreak continues to improve, a Phoenix nonprofit that serves adults with developmental disabilities is preparing to reopen its doors. Gompers suspended services in March.
Gompers offers a variety of services to people with disabilities. Throughout the pandemic, the nonprofit has continued to provide in-home care, but many other programs had to be put on hold.

The nonprofit reopened its employment services program and its private school earlier this month. On Sept. 14, Gompers will begin a phased reopening of its adult day treatment centers in Phoenix and Peoria.
“While these programs will reopen at partial capacity, we will be ready to serve dozens of adults who greatly benefit from the services we provide," said Chuck Foley, interim executive director of Gompers, in a press release. "We are excited and look forward to seeing them in person and helping them and us return to a semblance of normalcy.”
The nonprofit is preparing to open with social distancing and other health precautions in-place.
