Arizona Drivers Get Extra Year To Renew Licenses Amid COVID-19

If your Arizona driver license expired recently, you don’t need to rush to the Motor Vehicle Department. The Governor’s Office  is extending deadlines in response to the pandemic.

Arizona drivers whose licenses have expiration dates between March 1 and Dec. 31, 2020, will get an extra year to renew. The idea is to keep high-risk individuals over age 65 from having to make the trip to the MVD during the pandemic. The governor  in March deferred license expirations for 6 months; the new executive order extends it to a full 12 months.

The deadline to get an Arizona Travel ID, which will  soon be required for airline travel, also has been  extended until October 2021.
