ADOT Advises Alternate Routes For Valley Residents Headed North Labor Day Weekend

The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning travelers heading north over the Labor Day weekend to plan for delays.

ADOT says 7 miles of State Route 87 are still limited to one lane due to damage from the Bush Fire. Holiday travelers headed to Payson and the Mogollon Rim from the Valley should consider alternate routes.

Crews are repairing guardrail fencing along the northbound lane between Mileposts 223 and 230.

ADOT suggests drivers going to Payson could take interstate 17 to state route 260 and use U.S. 60 if headed to the White Mountains.

Federal emergency relief funds are being used to cover the $2 million in repairs to the railing.
