Phoenix Veterans Memorial Coliseum Will Serve As Polling Place In November

The Phoenix Suns’ home court is under renovation and out of the running to serve as a polling place in November, but the team’s original home at the Arizona State Fairgrounds is fair game.

Officials with the Suns announced that Veterans Memorial Coliseum will serve as a voting center, open to all voters in Maricopa County, for the Nov. 3 election.

Officials are also working to set a date when the coliseum’s North Box Office will be available for voters to drop off their early ballots ahead of Election Day.

The Suns and Phoenix Mercury organizations also announced they’ll offer team employees the opportunity to volunteer as poll workers at sites throughout Maricopa County.

The announcement comes amid renewed efforts by the NBA and WNBA to push for social justice reforms and encourage voter participation.

That includes efforts to turn league-owned and operated arenas into polling places in November.
