Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Labor Day Weekend

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive-heat warning throughout Labor Day weekend for Phoenix and much of Arizona.

Look for high temperatures above 110 degrees all weekend.

Andrew Deemer is a meteorologist at the National Weather Service Phoenix office. He says it’s a continuation of the hot summer we’ve been enduring.

"Unfortunately, we’ve had this ridge of high pressure that’s been parked over us, but it’s never been in the right position for storms,” Deemer said.

It is causing extreme heat.

Deemer says people traveling for the Labor Day weekend should bring lots of water and supplies and prepare for the worst-case scenario — a potential breakdown on the side of the road.
