Experts have questioned whether existing or emerging supply chains can keep pace with coronavirus vaccine demands.
But Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, said that's not an issue for flu shots.
"Because the manufacture of the influenza vaccine is being done in completely different facilities using different technology."
Many companies are currently stockpiling experimental coronavirus vaccines in case their clinical trials succeed, but Schaffner said that has been taken into account.
He added that manufacturers are producing extra doses of flu vaccine amid the pandemic to keep people healthy and out of hospitals.
