Many individuals recovering from COVID-19 are experiencing lingering symptoms that can last for weeks. One post-viral symptom is something called "brain fog."
Dr. Shad Marvasti is an associate professor and director of public health and prevention at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix.
"It's similar to the post-viral fatigue related to any kind of inflammation," he said. "We can see this sometimes with other viral syndromes. But it's really, kind of, that torpor, malaise, where you just kind of feel like there's a haze over you. And you can't really kind of think straight."
Marvasti says no COVID-19 infection is really benign. He says there are residual symptoms even among people who were asymptomatic, such as lung scarring.
