A multimillion dollar Crystal Lagoons Island Resort is coming to Glendale with a hope of opening by the fall of 2022.
Glendale officials announced Tuesday the resort will include a hotel with more than 600 rooms, plus amusement rides and theaters, among other amenities. The development will also include venue and office space.
Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps says the project will complement existing features in the entertainment district, such as the new Desert Diamond Casino. The resort will be located on the southeast corner of Cardinals Way and Loop 101.
“We’re excited for this project on many fronts, but two really stand out,” said Phelps in a press release. "Not only will this be a great example of experiential retail, which is the only area of growth in brick and mortar development over the past 10 years, but this project further cements Westgate as the largest sports and entertainment district in Arizona.”
Phelps also says the project is expected to bring in more that $700 million in new sales, property and bed tax revenue over the next 25 years. Glendale officials say the resort will bring an estimated 1,800 jobs to the area.
