Interstate 17 from Deer Valley to Jomax roads in north Phoenix will be closed periodically throughout the weekend.
Starting Friday, the Arizona Department of Transportation says pavement improvement work will be underway and drivers should prepare for heavy traffic, delays and consider alternative routes.
Southbound I-17 between those two roads will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday. The northbound side will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday.
A press release reminded drivers: "Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT."
