Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kelly on Thursday apologized for remarks he made two years ago.
Speaking about his twin brother and fellow astronaut at a Boy Scout council meeting in New Jersey, Kelly said the effects of his brother’s time in space had changed his DNA.
“I think the word hasn’t gotten out how bad it is for him. You know, it’s gotten so bad that we recently had to release him back into the wild. He’s like, halfway between like an orangutan and a howler monkey. We even changed his name to Rodrigo,” he said.
A former mayoral candidate of Phoenix called Kelly’s remarks “shameful” leading to Kelly’s apology.
