Mary Rooney is the prop master at Arizona Broadway Theatre and has been in the business of props for nearly 20 years.
And props are the perfect way to combine history and crafts, it turns out, as Rooney discovered just how important props can be for both actors and audiences in creating the kind of world that draws you into a story.
During the pandemic, as theaters have been shut down, she’s kept herself busy with just one of her passions — crafting. She posts videos each week on Arizona Broadway Theatre’s YouTube channel to teach people how to make things while we’re all at home more often.
The Show spoke with her more about her work — and why she chose this path to begin with.
