Arizona firefighters have pitched in on wildfires across the West.
The state has sent both crews and equipment to fires in California, Oregon and Colorado.
Most of the crews were sent to California, after a series of lighting strikes sparked numerous wind-driven wildfires.
Sharing resources is normal during fire season. What’s unusual is that Arizona’s fire season has lasted all summer.
“We’re taking those right now on a case by case basis, just making sure that we do have enough resources to not only send out to help our western neighbors, but to make sure that we’re not depleting our resources at home,” said Tiffany Davila, a spokeswoman with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.
Davila said that almost 900,000 acres have burned in Arizona this year in nearly 2,000 wildfires.
