The U.S Department of Veteran Affairs has awarded $1.3 million, in grants, to 11 regional homelessness groups across the country. The money will be used to support veterans at heightened risk for suicide from homelessness or the possibility of it.
More than $190,000 was awarded to Nation’s Finest, a nonprofit formerly known as Vietnam Veterans of California Inc. It provides transitional or permanent housing as well as therapy and other services to veterans, and their families.
The group's website says they support more than 3,500 veterans each year in California, Nevada and Arizona. It has three offices in northern Arizona — specifically in Prescott, Flagstaff and Bullhead City.
