The Phoenix Mercury have their season on the line tonight at 6 p.m. when they play the Washington Mystics in a first-round playoff elimination game.
The Merc, though, will once again be without leading scorer Brittney Griner, who left the WNBA’s bubble last month.
Head coach Sandy Brondello said they’ve learned to live without their dominant center.
"She’s taking care of some personal business, so you know, we totally respect that, so look we’re gonna work with the team that we have," Brondello said. "I feel like we’ve been playing good ball in her absence and now we have another challenge — the playoffs where anything can happen."
The Mercury finished the shortened regular season at 13-9. The winner of today’s game lives to play another elimination game on Thursday.
