Arizona is still lagging behind the rest of the country in responding to the 2020 census.
The nation's top Census Bureau official visited Arizona on Thursday and said while other states had reached a 99% response rate, Arizona is at 88.9%.
That includes 62% who responded on their own and another 26% received through follow-up work by census workers. Gov. Ducey said time is running out.
"Now with 13 days left to go, we have one clear message for all Arizonans," Ducey said. "If you haven't yet completed your census, do so now. You matter. And you deserve to be counted."
Ducey has said in the past that even a one percent under count would mean losing $62 million per year in federal aid for a decade. That’s a loss of $620 million.
More than 400 additional census workers have been brought into the state since last week.
