For 9 million Americans who weren’t required to file taxes in 2018 and 2019, you’re in luck. The IRS says those nontaxpayers may be eligible for a stimulus check.
Agency spokesman David Tucker says people who are eligible will receive a one-time payment of $1,200, possibly more if they have dependent children under 17.
“There's almost 240,000 such residents in Arizona that are going to be receiving a letter letting them know that the deadline for registering for an economic impact payment is coming up soon, it’s Oct. 15,” Tucker said.
However, the deadline for $500 catch-up payments for qualifying children is September 30th. For more information, Tucker says to go to the IRS website and click on the nonfiler’s tool to check eligibility.
